Actress Carrie Fisher, Of ‘Star Wars’ fame, Died due to cardiac arrest
Carrie Fisher, the plucky Princess Leia of the epic movie series, died at 8:55 this morning, after suffering a heart attack on a plane. She was 60. She is survived by her daughter (Billie Lourd), her mother (Debbie Reynolds) and her French bulldog, Gary.
Simon Halls, a spokesperson for the family confirmed the news of Carrie Fisher’s death. In a statement he said, “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning, she was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Fisher died four days after she suffered a cardiac arrest on a flight from London to Los Angeles.
Carrie Fisher was the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher. She was born on October 21, 1956.
She moved to Central School of Speech and Drama, London to pursue further education. The actress, however, got a break in Hollywood for “Shampoo,” (1975) where she acted as a seductive teenager.
At the age of 19, she was offered the role of Princess Leia in the evergreen Sci-Fi film Star Wars. Her other film credits include The Blues Brothers and When Harry Met Sally.
She confessed that at the tender age of 13 she started experimenting with Marijuana. She chain-smoked and by the age of 21 admitted of being addicted to LSD that ultimately led to cocaine and painkillers.
In 1985 the actress was diagnosed with bipolar disorder for which she underwent electroshock therapy.
She made her appearance in 2015’s Star Wars franchise ‘The Force Awakens only to Princess Leia once again’ on the silver screen.
Fisher was known for writing the comedic accounts of her life during her acting span in Hollywood. She decided to write books like Surrender the Pink, Grandma, Wishful Drinking, The Best Awful, Shockaholic, etc.
In her autobiography, The Princess Diarist, she penned the most intimate, behind the scenes memories. This book also has the confession of her youthful affair with Harrison Ford.
